Custom Text

You can call me Arrow or aroceu, whatever your heart desires. I write stories and code, I make graphics and designs, I talk about myself a lot, and I prefer lists in threes but break that preference quite often.

Step I: Theme

Go to CUSTOMIZE » SELECT JOURNAL STYLE and find TROPICAL for BASES (though any Bases layout may work). (here)

Step II: Custom CSS

Go to CUSTOMIZE YOUR THEME, then CUSTOM CSS

Step III: Layout Stylesheet

Uncheck the box next to USE LAYOUT STYLESHEET.

Step IV: Copy & Paste Code

Select all and copy the code in the link below; then back in Dreamwidth, in the textbox next to USE CUSTOM STYLESHEETS, paste the code and save.

Step V: Comment Pages & Addtl Options

This theme is cosmetic and not operated to work with custom comment pages. You need to enable the site skin comment page so it doesn't look ugly; you can do this by going to:
  • Organize » Manage Account » Display
  • "Entry Page Default: Your Journal" - uncheck the box; and hit save.
For maximum appearance and capability, it is also advised that you use text interaction links instead of icon interaction links. To configure this, go to:
  • Organize » Customize Style » Presentation
  • "Select whether user interaction links are printed as text or using the available icons" » switch from icons to text-only
  • "Select whether entry management links are printed as text or using the available icons" » switch from icons to text-only
  • "Select whether comment management links are printed as text or using the available icons" » switch from icons to text-only
This theme supports only two modules: Custom Text (no header) and Navigation. All other widgets are not configured for the theme.

To enable the valid modules:
  • Organize » Customize Style » Modules
    • Deselect ALL modules under every subheader (Unassigned, Sidebar, any others)
    • Select "Custom Text." Move it under Sidebar. Assign it order 1.
    • Select "Navigation." Move it under Sidebar, under Main Module Selection. Assign it order 2
  • Organize » Customize Style » Text
  • Text for the 'Custom Text' box » Fill in with your custom text (does not transform into lowercase)
  • Navigation » Fill in with your navigation text
  • Entry » Fill in with your entry navigation text
  • Options » Fill in with your options text. Recommended: (no #)
    • "Text to show in a link to skip back through entries": Prev
    • "Text to show in a link to skip forward through entries": Next

Support & Help

Let me know if you find any bugs and I'll be sure to fix them as soon as possible!

My old LiveJournal layout, now configured for Dreamwidth. It isn't perfect but it'll do - it supports everything I'd originally made for it.
