KYMM: Notes for second half

I found the notebook that I used while (not prior to) writing Kid, You'll Move Mountains that mostly just has the emotional beats of the second half of the fic, as well as the last scene... though I don't need to transcribe that since. It's already in the fic.

However, I tend to find story notes in general interesting and maybe you do too. These notes were particularly for me to understand both Mark and Eduardo emotionally to form the basis of the last chapter's conflict/angst, to make it feel more like a happy ending that TSN would never have than a tentative type of happy ending you usually see in shorter romance stories that span the same amount of time.

Also I will probably do a DVD commentary for the fic at some point... not any time soon though.

Anyway, I wrote all this after writing the first chapter since at that point while writing I only had a vague idea of how I wanted the rest of the story to go.

summer - communicate & talk a lot (esp long distance); Eduardo has internship; mature both individually and in relationship n___n
- that's when Mark tells him about why he started thefacebook

once he sees Eduardo in school again he knows he can't/doesn't want to envision a future without this... he knows it's only college and people don't stay in their young relationships too long and he's not thinking about school anymore but thefacebook but he's also thinking about Eduardo

Mark is an adaptable person; he works well under stress. He gets tunnel vision and sometimes can be more cutting + biting than usual but he can adapt to his situations (this is tricky when adapting can sometimes lead to repression)

He works on thefacebook and keeps up money for the servers. Erica helps and Dustin does massively (and so does Chris, later)
Mark is more used to E's presence than being alone
Mark and Eduardo make it well + mature and Eduardo just feels like a mental/emotional support system which is good (All Mark can talk about is thefacebook)
Then the meeting with Sean Parker goes badly. Eduardo tries to offer him money for server space, which Mark gets offended at

Eduardo tells Mark that he feels like he's getting left behind

Mark knows that the facebook is bigger than him (but not necessarily bigger than the both of them) and knows that he's not coming back to school next year. He tells Eduardo that after his junior year he' smoving out to California (which solidifies Eduardo's belief) and makes Eduardo think he's breaking up with him after he graduates (so if you plan on breaking us up, why don't we now?) Mark tries to tell Eduardo he loves him. Eduardo doesn't believe him

Mark thinks about making Eduardo CFO (but that won't send the right message)

Eduardo isn't part of thefacebook. Mark's not sure if he wants to be, but he wants Eduardo to be a part of him

They're just college kids scared of the future because Mark has his already lined out for him (Eduardo, thefacebook) and Eduardo doesn't

Remember what you told me over the summer, not knowing what the future looked like and not knowing if you're doing the right thing? Yeah, that's how I feel with you. Not--Not, being with you and not knowing if I'm doing the right thing, I mean. But not being with you. The uncertainty that I'll be alone and unsupported and terrified without you.
Could I live? Probably. But the thing is, I want you to be around--I don't know how, I don't know what you plan on doing after you graduate. But I need you, Wardo. You're my--my best friend. And, um, my boyfriend, too. And I want what I said last time, that I, uh, love you. I don't want to break up with you or leave you behind or anything. And I want to stay with thefacebook, but--I want to stay with you too.

*takes a deep breath*

Eduardo is just as unsure as Mark is (Mark is scared for a moment that he had said the breakup thing because Eduardo was projecting his own desires to break up) but he doesn't want to break up either, he wants them to be okay. Mark says that they managed the summer so they can manage when Eduardo graduates (Eduardo laughs haphazardly)

So they're okay and take things steady and try not to worry too much about the future

Mark draws[my handwriting is awful at this particular word but I'm 90% sure that's what I wrote] up the CFO papers and things he'll need to sign + gets them in a manila envelope. shows up at Eduardo's front door and shoves them into his hands and tells him that he's been thinking about asking him to be CFO for a while but knows that sends the wrong message of asking Eduardo to pick him (and Facebook) as his future but he does think Eduardo can be good for it and they don't have a CFO yet and he's gonna graduate and he can get his lawyers to read it and whatever but he doesn't have to say yes or say yes right away
- Mark hightails it out of there lol

Later Eduardo accepts tentatively (it's, like, spring) and says he doesn't have any plans directly after graduation anyway

blah blah blah

end with them banging in Widener one last time n____n
