i kinda went batshit today hunting down my original cable for a very, very old laptop i think i had at the beginning of 2010, which is a very old gateway LT21, which looks like this lil bugger in a very, VERY old unboxing video. 10 inches, still kicking on windows 7, and still boots! battery is fully dead, but a replacement is about 30 bucks off aliexpress (which might be my goal after returning from vacation)

so ... i wanna try to open it up, clean it out of gunk and dust ... i was considering upgrading the ram but i think it's already capped at 2GB for its max, and i don't think it supports more than that. idk if it has thermal paste, but it'd be nice to replace it if it does ... and install linux on it. i'm very new to linux, basically i know nothing

considering i'm also working with a very tiny amount of RAM ... i think i'm gonna try MX linux Xfce? since from what i heard it can work on 1GB of ram, and if i have 2, then it should be ok?

idk what id use it for, but its nice as a lightweight ... travel ... laptop maybe? just have firefox on it, obsidian, and like ... maybe some very lowkey games that are from the 90s/early 2000s like jazz jackrabbit 2 and luxor 3. actually after listening to this video about old tech to de-brain rot i might actually use it for writing and lowkey things to break from my main laptop

i mean obviously my laptop does the same, but avoiding installing shit like discord, and being unable to run heavy stuff, it might just limit me to stuff i wanna do. maybe notepad++ coding? LMAO

its funny that my ipad is bigger than it. technically my ipad could also do the exact same functions, but idk how much i wanna carry around a $1200 tablet which i use for art compared to a decade old laptop that's even smaller lol. plus it's a nice project for myself to tinker with linux without having to use it on my main laptop. not that i wouldn't wanna move to linux, but it's a pain in the ass to figure out what programs i use being compatible with it. so old laptop, great reason to dink with it

Unfortunately, their upstairs neighbors (Edward Norton, Penélope Cruz) are about to arrive for dinner, and everything that can go wrong goes worse. Also directed by Wilde (Booksmart, Don't Worry Darling).
This is the US version of the Spanish film Sentimental/The People Upstairs that by now has been adapted about a half a dozen times. Looks funny and Sundance reviews are very favourable.

Trailer for the latest action thriller written and directed by Guy Ritchie(Snatch., The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Swept Away). It follows a covert team of elite operatives (Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, Eiza González) who live in the global shadows, as comfortable wielding power and influence as they are automatic weapons and high explosives. When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, the team is sent to steal it back on what would be for anyone else a suicide mission. Kristofer Hivju, Fisher Stevens and Rosamund Pike are also part of the cast.
IMDb informs me that filming already took place in 2023. Hopefully not all snappy bits of dialogue are already shown in the trailer.

Horror mystery in which a strange doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom. Cast members include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass and Lukita Maxwell.
Certainly an intriguing trailer, especially for genre fans. An earlier teaser: HD720p 7MB.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping    HD720p 35MB
Full trailer for the latest franchise extension, again directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Constantine, I Am Legend), to be in theatres in November. It will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. Cast members include Joseph Zada, Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Lili Taylor, Whitney Peak and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

A second trailer for the sequel. It follows Miranda Priestly's (Meryl Streep) struggle against Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement. Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci also return. Among the new cast additions are Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux and Lucy Liu. Again directed by David Frankel (Collateral Beauty, Hope Springs, Marley & Me).

what a fuckass busy monday. i do have to say, why is migrating microSD data from one SD card to another so dogshit LOL... the old microSD card that was in my dad's android tablet just would NOT transfer ANYTHING (almost). even the image/clone i made of it had some files missing (i think like 20 pics? and a couple folders?) ... shit was so weak it didnt even have the capacity to transfer some single files and disconnected every time it got choked on a transfer LOL ... thankfully after pulling my hair out (and having to reinstall the apps that werent getting recognized off the microSD) it all worked out well and my dad has double the space and a microSD card that doesn't shit itself transferring stuff

(at least i got some new tools out of it, which is an disk image cloner and a really cool transfer helper)

i also found a cool backup helper script from the same person who made the neocities gallery template im going to be using for my new site template, and i wanna set that up ... problem is i just need to organize my external hard drive folder structure, figure out what files are garbage and i dont need backed up within folders

aside from that ... late dinner due to moving to another phone/internet company (its a lot of savings, but god damn it pushed dinner late by an hour and im sapped from hunger), baggage organizing for vacation this weekend, showering and ... yea

i got minecraft on my switch as a treat for myself. i wish it worked on the 3ds but that was like among the very few new 3ds exclusive games and i had the XL original 3ds

weird title but it’s just so odd thinking when i look at my follower count on neocities im like … almost 430 people are following me (some of which are oomfies from here, hello)

i guess when it comes to a more personal site, i feel more seen than having 430 followers on an art account. i can’t say if that’s a good thing or bad, but it’s that realization that people do read the things i post, which have more slivers of myself and my thoughts than what i put out on my art accounts. like yeah obviously im putting things out for myself and to be seen, but its weird knowing it IS seen

and i guess it’s that realization that i dunno how people will react to those things. i know i shouldn’t worry myself over it, but when i talk so personal, more exposed to my worries, thoughts, experiences … i don’t know what reactions i will get. i don’t want to withdraw myself from what is my own personal site and hole, it’s just so weird to have so many eyes on me

thankfully i’ve not had any bad experiences in the year i’ve had my site, all the guestbook messages i’ve gotten have been sweet people, and people who genuinely engage with my posts and updates (which also ily all here who do comment, i know im spotty with replying)

it’s just those random thoughts where i’m like… idk how people don’t feel terribly exposed knowing so many eyes can be on them, esp when it’s something so much more personal

vague title but it's very weird to still feel like i'm recovering from my burnout ... in the sense of leaving things behind undone that i'd get done immediately and with interest (my colour tcg posts i need to update, a friend i still need to reply to, half done games i was immensely into)

some of it is the looming vacation we're heading out on at the end of next week--not that i'm not excited for it, but my brain always has it in the back of my head like 'oh god i still need to pick out the clothes i'm taking. i need to put all of my chargers into one bag and organize them. i still need to find those pants bc i do not remember where i left them.' --> can't focus on other things as easily

some of it is just exhaustion in general and too many things going on: rainy weather, going out yesterday was sapping and i'm still recovering, book woes and worries, easter this weekend (orthodox), brain stretched across my own projects, my contract guy not responding to me yet after a wholeass week, the potential interview i still need to get a scheduled date for, the commission i still need to pay for because the payment processor isn't taking my cards and i need to do a bank-to-bank transfer ...

... actually tbf listing all of those out it kinda makes sense why i feel like i'm just like barely sticking my nose above water. not that i'm explicitly ... not feeling good? im thankfully feeling things and not a muted emotion, but brain just hard to focus on things i wanna do!!!

sorry but holy fuck getting charged almost 100 CAD for tomodachi life bc of the 13% tax (when the game is already 85 dollars) fuckin hurts my soul!!!!!!!!!! im lucky my friend covered the 85 (60 in USD) but a whole 10+ bucks in taxes just hurts!!!!!! i hate CAD to USD conversion and i know in other places it's so much worse!!!! shit is just not worth buying anymore sometimes!!!!!!! i love piracy and second hand stores and refurbished stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i went out with my classmate to a farmer's market today, and we walked around for at least 3-4 hours ... mostly checking our vendor stalls, some of the farmer stalls, and whatever other goodies they had. so many tempting food stalls, so little space in my stomach to eat LMAO ... we did buy some hungarian sausage hot dogs w/sauerkraut and i could taste the bread was homemade. they also had bread for sale for $3 for a giant ass loaf so i bought some for home. half of it is almost gone already LOL

i also saw a crystal shop, and caved to buy a bismuth and matching quartz pair; i love gemstones, but i dont have many, and sometimes i dont wanna just buy some crystal that pretends to be another when it isnt so i'm a little wary of crystal shops (or fake? at least they mentioned the ones that are dyed here, like it looked like amethyst but it clearly wrote 'dyed' on the note)

aside from that ... the antique store we went to was really cool, we found old journals and ledgers of purchases from 1910. like i know obviously older papers and stuff exist, and stone scriptures that had writing of actual people on it, but seeing it with your own two eyes and holding books and journals from someone back in the 1910's/1930's felt so weird in a cool way. and postcards with written notes on the back from those years too

it did definitely sap my entire energy though. cursed to enjoy going out but to completely crash energy-wise afterwards

game grumps is idly playing in the background while i prepare to sleep, and im just doing this as a public to-do note for myself and progres on my site remake

(im also making a site for my friend’s author page for shits and giggles but also fr cause 11ty has made it so much easier)

so far the index is almost done, i need to finish adding my webrings + join more fan listings
i need to begin my about page and at least start to set up the layout again … which means making JSON files for my blinkees, stamps, and so on
start making the css for my oc pages again… the layout kinda works now
move my sylvie gif pet to the article page…? idk if i should keep it on the front page, it is kinda big 🥲 i’ll see
making my articles/misc page err. page…
creating a github page preview thing for my templates to not have to host them on my site directly
- also half pondering if i should put my colour tcg on a different site but then i’d be lazy to update it… but also not having it be bogged down on my own site… maybe another github pages???????? or nekoweb lol eh… meh. maybe another neocities
…? uh continuing to upload my existing gallery over i guess. and updating my neighbours cause that’s also a chunky project
moving over my existing recipes and adding the ones that have been greyed out. macros has made this stupidly easy now that i understand them

i mean more in the sense of all consuming, all eating… i’m making progress on my coding but i have a tendency that when im faced with a problem that requires brain power (figuring out how to remake my oc pages using json/11ty) i tend to get consumed by it

which is great outside of the fact that it’s all my brain wants to think about and it’s been 3am sleep times like two days in a row now bc all i wanna do is keep working on it

like pls i wanna do my other hobbies…!!!! and get proper sleep!!!! and stop fuckin shrimping for 3-4 hours straight

enjoy the flashes of my 2013 and earlier art (i think some of those are maybe even 2011 or something, the napkin comics definitely are uh ... 2004...) bahaha i got into selfshipping pretty early on, i remember for some reason i had a huge crush on a gundam character, but never really made my first real 'self' to ship until i played kingdom hearts 365/2 as my first KH game on my DS

(i should probably write a journal on my own history with selfshipping/oc x canon cause i began early on before going into like a 7-year-long hiatus bc i had my oc/oc blorbos to carry me until sylvie knocked in and took over my life. anyway this is unrelated to my art gallery progress LMFAO)

im trying to not be too jittery/overly hopeful but considering i know how often i got ghosted on any game application job, to have them get back to me on my follow-up email is exciting as hell. no interview secured yet (mostly bc they said they'd email me later in the month to actually make a schedule/meeting link) but like the fact i got a response back in the first place when i was expecting nothing despite--i hate sound so assured but like, i know this is the type of game i've played, it's a small indie team, and i know unity like the back of my hand after fucking with it for 8+ years.

... well, vague title but its more the concept of mutuals bahaha. i feel weird going through my list of mutuals and cleaning up those who unfollowed. i know it's not ever something to take personally, but there's always this little sliver of 'what was it that made them unfollow/unlist my site?'

i know i'll never have answers and it's not something i'd ever seek out. it's probably weird to be the type to clean out my followers/who isn't following me back anymore, but i guess it's for peace of mind? plus habit from the tumblr roleplay community where you would curate your feed to just people who were mutually interested. plus i'm redoing my site anyway, so i'm tackling my neighbours regardless. i usually don't check in that often for who is actually listing me/following me cause i don't care that much, but y'know. tiny brain goblin moments
