You can call me Arrow or aroceu, whatever your heart desires. I write stories and code, I make graphics and designs, I talk about myself a lot, and I prefer lists in threes but break that preference quite often.

Hello lovely creator! This round of hqhols I've decided to center my requests around ~girls~ so that you're having me has me very excited :D Also new this year I've just decided to put together of likes/dislikes instead of going on about each pairing to make it a little easier to read.

LIKES:

Canon!verse - While I'm not against AUs, per se, I generally prefer Haikyuu!! fic set in canon, because I love sports and competition (and volleyball!!) and I also adore the slice of life/high school aspect of it. If this is your thing, I'd love for you to incorporate that, too! If AUs are more your comfort zone, I wouldn't mind it, necessarily - just letting you know what I'm partial to :)

Slow burn (getting together) - Not necessarily in the context of longfic (although I do like longfic!), but more in that in such a deep POV of one character who is pining for the other that they don't notice or realize that their love interest is very obviously in love with them too! I love pining, and I love ridiculous rom-com tropes, and flirting that they don't recognize as flirting :D I just looooove getting together fic and all the weird messy stuff that happens before it, and CONFESSIONS and FIRST KISSES WITH EACH OTHER!!

Didn't realize we were dating - SUCH a fun trope to work with, especially for Akisae and Hanamatsu :) (or... Kiyoyachi or Kiyoyui or Yachiyui... holy shit) It kind of goes into the slow burn/flirting thing - oblivious and so obviously into each other! Thinking everyone else is stupid when they're the stupid ones.

Light writing/Happy endings - Just a general thing, but I like to keep things light-hearted! I like dorks and non-consequential misunderstandings and teasing and caught glances across rooms. Secret smiles, feeling stupid bubbly and happy at seeing the other. I'm a huge romantic and very easy to please, I promise.

Humor - Make me laugh!! (especially with these pairings) I already laugh at almost everything and I love when writing does this for me, too :)

Friendships - One of the things I love most about Haikyuu!! (and just about everything) is how different characters relate to each other, in terms of friendship dynamic. I love it when other characters are accidentally invested in the main pairing and/or keep getting updates from half the pairing. Or they're teasing and nudge-nudge winking. Or just anything! I love interactions with characters outside the main pairing, especially if they come from two different social circles and have them meet/meet the other :) OR if they just come from the same social circle and no one really notices/brushes off their interactions as something that happens normally OR just general hilarity and interaction with their friend characters :)

DISLIKES

Flame stuff - Mostly concerning in-universe implied character bashing or pairing bashing (or any aspect of the canon-bashing.) I am, of course, okay with characters making mistakes and being flawed, but I feel like it can be distinguishable from one to the other.

Angst - I'm really not fond of angst or anything that might incorporate angst into a fic (including: hospitals, character death, injury, depression, abandonment, infidelity, etc.), especially for Haikyuu!! stuff. If you can, I'd be super grateful if you could avoid anything even veering in that direction. I'm perfectly fine with characters having fights and minor disagreements, but I'd prefer an overall tone to be more romcom-like than anything

Tropes I don't care for: space AUs, royalty AUs, terminal illness, any sort of gender play (re: identification, nonbinariness, pronouns, and more or less presentation; cisswap/rule 63), war, age gap, student/teacher, religion as angst, homophobia (especially induced by religion) as angst, family-angst, any character matchmaking the main pairing together, abuse (past or present, any sort of relationship) - Please avoid these while you can. Some of these are mere preferences while others I have deep-seated reasons for my discomfort, but I'd appreciate it if all of these things were avoided!!

Multiple ships within a fic - I'm not necessarily against the Everybody Is Gay trope, but for the sake of reading fic it tends to distract me a lot. So if you can I'd prefer no background ships; the only exceptions to this are Oisuga and Kagehina because they're my two OTPs, but otherwise I would prefer no others

Seme/uke dynamics or characteristics - Kind of self-explanatory; but woobifying puts me off a fic like no other, and while I'm not necessarily picky on characterization (I'm sure since you offered the ship you have some confidence in your ability to depict them, so that's all good ;w;), I just prefer it if the characters feel a little more realistic to me, you know?

Alcohol/drugs as plot devices - I'm perfectly okay with alcohol and drugs actually being used in the fic, as long as they don't contribute to the plot at all, or as little as possible. I don't like it when characters do anything Significant under the influence, as it makes me uncomfortable.

General bigotry - self-explanatory

Epithets - More of a writing/stylistic thing than anything, and please disregard this if you know you don't have any problems with repeating a character's name or pronouns. But things like "the taller man," "the black-haired man," instead of just using a name tend to make it harder for me to read a fic.

Homophobia - I'm okay with mild internalized homophobia and heteronormative expectations within the culture. From my hqsummerhols letter: "I'm definitely fine with it being addressed as a societal thing & societal implications, especially within Japan. However as a personal preference I dislike it when Coming Out /Addressing Homosexuality is pivotal within a story, especially between two non-heterosexual characters"

(regarding Akisae with this, I don't mind if they're both straight, but it would also be pretty cool if one/both of them were bisexual/pansexual! You don't have to use the word or even imply it in any way, it'd just be nice if there was nothing in the narrative/dialogue that would be against the idea :D)

Anyway, thank you dear creator for putting up with me! I hope something about my letter has inspired you or given you an idea for what to write, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading it :)
